About the role

Join us in shaping the future of the Coffs Coast! We are thrilled to announce that the City is looking for another skilled and passionate Development Assessment Officer to join the team. This is your chance to take the next pivotal step in your planning career and contribute to sustainable growth in our vibrant Coffs Harbour region.

In this dynamic role, you will evaluate Development Applications in accordance with the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulations, ensuring outcomes that are both fair and equitable. You will serve as an expert resource, providing insightful planning advice to consultants, developers, and government agencies while effectively managing post-consent requirements to ensure compliance.

Your contributions will be invaluable in maintaining the City's positive image and facilitating the delivery of high-quality development outcomes. You will engage with a diverse range of Development Applications, including complex proposals that may be high-risk and politically sensitive; therefore, strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are essential.

Your responsibilities will extend to preparing comprehensive reports for senior management and stakeholders, participating in pre-lodgement meetings, and playing a crucial role in policy development. Additionally, you may have the opportunity to represent the City in legal matters, passionately advocating for the interests of our community.

About you?

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and / or demonstrated relevant experience at an appropriate level (ie. Town planning or related discipline)
  • National Construction Induction Certification (Whitecard)
  • Current Class C driver's licence.
